As I prepare to be a delegate on the much talked about council on human sexuality with the RCA this weekend I want to offer three pieces of meditation that have been guiding me. The first is from Scripture, the second is from Krista Tippett interviewing David Whyte, and the third is a spoken word piece on joy. I’ve been thinking a lot about fullness, life-giving interactions, joy, and abundance lately. What is it that gives our life meaning and joy? What is it that puts a smile upon our face and anchors our place in the family of things?
Be still, and know that I am God! – Psalm 46:10
The poet, David Whyte said, “The more you’re here, the more you’re alive, the more you realize you are a mortal human being that you will pass from this place. Will you actually turn up? Will you actually have the conversation? Will you actually become a full citizen of vulnerability, loss, disappearance which you have no choice about?“
(I recommend listening the full interview here.)
